So I finally have a new address. It is my family's because there are no PO boxes in my village-
Romanchouk Orest
Myrtiuky
Stry District
Lviv Region
82463
Ukraine
Looking forward to hearing from everyone!
As for me, I am doing well. A little bit bored and excited for school to start up. New Years was fun. Spent it at a bar with my host cousin Taras and his friends. There are no rules in Ukraine about standing a safe distance from fireworks which added an unexpected and frightening twist to the evening.
My family has been busy with our pig slaughter- poor Senora. I watched them make homemade sausage yesterday and even tried a little. Although as I'm sure you guessed I was not a fan. My favorite part of Senora's death was her subsequent trip on a minibus to another city. My parents and I waited on the side of the road with a huge bag of meat, waved down a bus to Lutsk where my host sister and her husband live, paid for a ticket for Senora and loaded her on. She was picked up at the Lutsk station by my sister four hours later. Only in Ukraine.
Christmas is on Monday. Sunday night I have been invited to my host grandparent's and Monday will be at home as far as I know. Excited to experience all the Christmas traditions I have heard about.
Hope everyone had a good New Years. Happy 2008.

Hi Teetles,
Oh my goodness. That is quite a story! I am sending a package today so be on the lookout for it in the next couple of weeks. Nothing that exciting is going on here. Took Sean back to school in a snow storm, that was kind of interesting. Other than that everthing is back to normal. Looking forward to the playoff games taking place over the next couple of weekends. GO PATS! Love you lots and miss you more. Mom
Hey Caitlin Anne-
Merry Christmas! I'm anxious to hear how the holidays are celebrated in the Ukraine. Sounds like you might be eating pork! Are they making a farm girl out of you? How's the teaching going?
Absolutely nothing new here - school and work are all back to normal. A's b-ball team is doing well. We're going to St. Thomas for Februrary vacation, so that is something to look forward to.
Enjoy yourself. We love you and miss you lots.
Aunt Terry
Merry Christmas! Tell us what it was like having it on 1/7. Happy New Year from all of us at Milk St, particularly our newest additions, 2 guinea pigs! They are 11 weeks old male cavies. Andrew named his calico pig Chip (short for Chocolate Chip - it reminds him of a cookie!) and Nate's is black and white (your mom thinks it looks like a baby skunk) and named Domino. The kids are having a blast with them, particularly Andrew. He feeds them, holds them, plays with and talks to them. No allergic reactions yet! Nate is still learning how to hold them without losing control! We had a great Xmas - the boys were good the whole day and loved the Hot Wheels, leapster games, bug making machine and money counting jar. A is beside himself that he has $26! We had a very quiet New Year's. Went to a new Japanese restaurant in Lex where they cook in front of you. It was us, your mom and Dad, and Terry, Jim and Tommy. Mark and I were in bed by 9:45! We skied at Wachusett yesterday. A did great, took a private lesson and was rated a level 4 (whatever that means!) Nate, on the other hand, spent the morning in the lodge eating snacks in his long johns. I got him out in the afternoon when it was almost 50 degrees. He did better but just isn't as excited about it as A. We may ski over Feb vacation, not sure yet. I'm worried that the green hat isn't working with the red coat -- am I right?! Tell us more about the teaching and your students. Haven't been to one of your dad's games yet. He is taking mark to the pats game this weekend - Mark is quite excited as you can imagine. Already made his signature chili! That's all for now. we love you and miss you tons. A was hoping you would be home in time to watch him this summer!!
XO-M,L,A,N and Chip and Domino

c,
thats a great story about the pig and all, but did your host family ever jump out of a big tree with a homemade spear and slaughter the pig, then drag it back to a cave in the middle of the forrest to cook it over an open flame, all while avoiding the oregon national guard and the corrupt will teasle? john j rambo did.
